Portable Portraits coming soon!

How do we let people know they are loved, know they are worth seeing? Take it to the streets. Twice a month HPP will travel with a portable portrait studio to the streets of, Oakland, Berkeley, the Mission, Concord and all over the bay area. We will announce via Facebook and Twitter where we will be that particular day and welcome people to have their portraits taken for free. HPP will then send them a digital file via email or Facebook or send them a print.

We ask one thing of them. On a white board they will answer the question, “What do you love about yourself?” They will then be asked to hold the board with their answer in their portrait. My hope is that even just for that moment they are brought present to the beauty that exists within them.
They will also have a visual reminder that they are special and worth being seen.

Family In Focus New Orleans Initiative 2010

The Human Picture Project announces their new initiative "Family in Focus." Professional photographers will travel throughout the New Orleans area to visit families that lost their homes and belongings—including family photographs—during the 2005 Hurricane Katrina. The mission of Family in Focus is to photograph new family portraits and individual portraits for survivors of Katrina.
Their first series of portraits is scheduled for February 26, 27, and 28. Each family or individual will have a mini portrait session and be presented with a DVD of their images and an 8x10 print.
